"Waseda University Day" at the University of Bonn The University of Bonn celebrates "Waseda University Day"

In honour of its long-standing partner university Waseda in Tokyo, Japan, the University of Bonn today celebrated "Waseda University Day". Rector Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch welcomed Waseda President Prof. Dr. Aiji Tanaka, who had travelled to Bonn with a 34-member delegation.

Afterwards, joint research activities of the two universities in the life sciences, natural sciences and humanities were presented. In the afternoon a campus tour took place, which led the Japanese visitors to the Waseda office in Poppelsdorf.

Since 1960, the University of Bonn has been cooperating with the renowned Waseda University. Two years ago, Rector Michael Hoch received an honorary doctorate from the Japanese partner university. The ceremony took place during "Bonn Day", which Waseda University regularly holds in honor of the partnership with the University of Bonn.

Recently, the University of Bonn defined the priorities of its international cooperation. As part of its internationalization strategy, Waseda University was declared one of three strategic partner universities, in addition to the University of St Andrews in the UK and the University of Melbourne in Australia. The focus countries identified were Australia, France, the United Kingdom, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands and the United States of America.
