Hackathons
At our hackathons, you’ll develop solutions to real-world social challenges. Over a limited period—usually a weekend—you’ll build initial prototypes and present them to a panel of experts. At every hackathon, we have a partner company that frames the challenge around a specific theme. You’ll receive an overview of the topic at the start and have ongoing expert guidance as you work on your solutions. The best ideas are recognized with awards at the end.
Noteworthy are the high degree of real-world relevance and the interdisciplinarity of the teams. Working in mixed teams from different disciplines, you’ll tackle current societal challenges and, with your solutions, help make the world a little better. Past hackathon partners include the Telekom AG, the Bonn Surgical Technology Center (BOSTER), and the Stadtwerke Bonn.
At the hackathons, you can expect not only exciting tasks and impactful solutions, but you’ll also gain insights into the respective partner companies and have the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with company representatives, industry experts, and each other!

#Hack4Surgery 2025
The #Hack4Surgery 2025 , held in collaboration with the Bonn Surgical Technology Center (BOSTER), focused on real-world challenges in the emergency room. Participants applied machine learning methods and were able to work with real, anonymized patient data.
GreenBonn Hackathon 2024
The GreenBonn Hackathon 2024 called for creative solutions to help the Stadtwerke Bonn achieve its climate goals. To this end, the winning team developed a platform designed to streamline permitting processes and facilitate communication regarding construction projects.
#Hack4BestCX 2024
The #Hack4BestCX 2024 hackathon, organized by the University of Bonn, Telekom, and the LAMARR Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, focused on developing solutions for improved predictive models of customer satisfaction at Telekom.
Cybersecurity Hackathon 2023
The cybersecurity hackathon in Bonn, organized by the Transfer Center enaCom, the start-up L3montree, DIGITALHUB Bonn, KPMG, and Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, focused on collaboration, as it brought together interdisciplinary expertise from a wide range of fields, from computer science to geophysics.
GreenBonn Hackathon 2023
The GreenBonn Hackathon 2023 focused on the shortage of skilled workers in climate-related professions. With support from the organizers, the Transfer Center enaCom, DIGITALHUB.DE, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, and Stadtwerke Bonn, the winning team developed a digital platform concept to address this issue.
