We are looking for an internationally recognized personality with a scientific focus on the field of pharmacoepidemiology.
The professorship is intended to further strengthen collaboration between the University of Bonn/University Hospital Bonn and the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM, Bonn). The professorship is linked to the scientific leadership of the Pharmacoepidemiology research group at BfArM. The aim is to conduct regulatory research that is competitive at a European and international level within an interdisciplinary team (expertise in statistics/IT, epidemiology, public health, pharmacogenetics, medicine, pharmacology, pharmacy), with a main focus on the use and analysis of large amounts of data throughout the life cycle of pharmaceuticals.
The spectrum of working methods primarily comprises:
- Applied research on the risk-benefit ratio of pharmaceuticals, especially taking into account special patient populations, both pre- and post-authorization
- Evaluation of large databases with primary and secondary data
- Generation of real-world evidence through real-world data analyses
- Development of new analysis applications in the field of real-world data, particularly using AI-based techniques
The candidate will be appointed in a joint procedure by the University of Bonn and the BfArM. Close collaboration with relevant key areas of research in the Faculty of Medicine Bonn and with other university and non-university research institutions, such as DZNE, is expected. The holder of the position should be involved in the relevant master’s and graduate programs at the University of Bonn and in academic self-governance.
It is expected that the leadership candidate will have an outstanding scientific record, long-standing scientific experience, and be able to demonstrate publications at an international level. Long-standing management experience and extensive experience in leading a scientific
working group and in acquiring competitive third-party funding are required. The leadership role requires the ability to manage working groups, including a willingness to cooperate and social skills, along with expertise in the field of gender mainstreaming. The successful candidate must have completed a degree in medicine or pharmacy and have a habilitation or evidence of equivalent academic achievements in accordance with section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW).
