Particularly good rating in the area of teaching

In the current university ranking by British magazine Times Higher Education (THE), the University of Bonn is again ranked 9th among the top 10 German universities. Among the more than 1,500 educational institutions evaluated, Bonn takes 114th place. For the World University Ranking, various indicators were collected in the areas of research, teaching, knowledge transfer and internationality.

The University of Bonn achieved best results in the area of teaching - here it came in 112th place in the overall comparison. Among other factors, the number of doctorates, the reputation of academic teaching and the supervision ratio were taken into account as indicators.

Rector Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch is pleased about the good results of his university: "In the Germany-wide comparison, we were able to maintain our position among the best universities. But we also notice the tough international competition. With the help of the excellence strategy, we have taken numerous measures to face this competition, for example by bringing excellent minds to Bonn with special programs at all qualification levels".
In the current Academic Ranking of World Universities (the so-called "Shanghai Ranking"), the university recently reached 87th place worldwide (https://www.uni-bonn.de/neues/178-2020). Since 2019, the University of Bonn has been one of eleven German Universities and Networks of Excellence and the only University of Excellence with six funded Clusters of Excellence.
