Description

A research poster is more than just a visual summary of your project — it’s a powerful tool for communicating your work, sparking interest, and engaging with a broad audience at conferences, workshops, and academic events. Designing an effective poster requires more than placing text and images on a large sheet. It demands thoughtful layout, concise and accessible language, and an eye for design that highlights your key message clearly and persuasively.

This course will give you the skills you need to create professional, attractive and high-impact posters and allow you to practise the communication skills required to make your research interesting and accessible to your audience.

Content

  • Your audience and their needs
  • Crafting the 'story' of your poster
  • Design posters - structures, layout, software, colours, lures, visual impact and best/worst-practise examples
  • Graphical abstracts
  • How to present your data
  • Basic self-presentation skills - presenting yourself, your research and the poster
