IT and Computing Services provides IT services and support for the University administration, from large equipment procurement and systems operation, all the way to application development.

Along with University IT, IT and Computing Services provides computing services for the University. We provide support for the entire administration, provide hardware and manage the network and software used by the administration. Large Equipment Procurement is also located here.

Contact information for System Technology and Operations

System Technology and Operations provides server and end device support for the University of Bonn administration. This includes technical support for server, storage and database systems, stationary and mobile workplace computers including peripherals (printers, scanners) and smartphones, as well as firewalls and VPN connections to satellite stations.

In addition to our basic responsibilities for office communications (MS Office), identity management (Active Directory), email, www, fax, software distribution, networks, firewalls, virus scanners, “satellite office” connections, IT security measures, mobile work/working from home, backup procedures and hotline support, we also provide support for:

The University administration is looking to fill the following permanent position as soon as possible

 

 

System Technology Employee

 

IT and Computing Systems operates and provides support for the network and all IT applications for the University of Bonn administration. This includes technical support for servers, workplace computers, databases and the network, as well as support for resource, campus and document management programs and other individual applications.

 

     Your tasks :

  • Further development of existing IT infrastructure for the University administration,
  • identifying weak spots and analyzing their impact on the IT system landscape and specialized applications,
  • preparation and planning of implementation concepts in coordination with the various departments,
  • planning and administration of central server services in Active Directory for the administration,
  • analyzing hardware and software needs,
  • performing product evaluations and comparisons and cost-benefit analyses,
  • hardware and software troubleshooting,
  • procurement, installation and configuration of workplaces,
  • assistance with IT projects and process management.
  • First and second level support for the internal administrative IT landscape.


Your profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Proof of comparable qualifications, or training as an IT specialist with proof of comparable knowledge and experience
  • Sound IT knowledge (Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Servers/Clients,
  • MS operating systems, IT hardware PCs, printers, scanners, laptops)
  • Willing to work independently on projects,
  • service-oriented, structured working style
  • Reliable, independent, careful, proactive and responsible,
  • enjoy interacting with users.
