Turkish

A minor in Turkish entails intensive training in this language, which is fundamental to exploring topics featured in a major in Asian Studies with profile in either Islamic studies or Turkish history and society. Moreover, Turkish offers other application aspects that make it attractive as a minor for students who have chosen other profiles for their Asian Studies major.

The minor in Turkish encompasses three language modules (Turkish I-III). The language courses of the Department of Oriental and Asian Studies (IOA) emphasize the skills of listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. In addition, every module features e-learning units related to specific content in the modules which students work through on their own. The courses of the Turkish minor include all practical language tutorials in which students learn Turkish both in theory and in practice using suitable foreign language teaching methods and approaches.

This subject must be combined with a second subject.
