The minor in Tibetan consists of three language modules (Tibetan I-III) From semester one the Department of Oriental and Asian Studies (IOA) teaches students both the spoken language and the Tibetan script. In the third semester they learn classical written Tibetan. Students learn to express themselves in Tibetan and independently read, understand, and reflect on simple texts. In addition, they acquire intercultural competencies that enable them to study topics across disciplines.

The IOA also organizes excursions and a Tibet colloquium, to which it invites IOA scholars to exchange their ideas with regard to ongoing research projects related to Tibet.

This subject must be combined with a second subject.
