The aim of the one-on-one coaching is to analyze your current situation and provide you with the knowledge base or tactical confidence that will prepare you to master the complex task of the application process for professorships. An experienced coach from the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV) will clarify your individual questions with you.

Content

The focus of the two-hour session may be on one or more of the following topics:

Preparation for (interim) evaluations
Applications and self-marketing for positions within academia (including the optimization of application materials)
Appointment negotiations and negotiations for subsequent positions
Identification of convincing unique selling proposition
Creation of your own strengths and weaknesses profile
Status-quo analysis
Individual career planning

Frequently asked questions

Is there a charge for the event?

No. Human Resources Development will cover the costs.

An event is fully booked, is there a waiting list?

Yes, if an event is fully booked, we will put you on the waiting list. You will then move up if a place becomes available again in time before the start of the event.

Are the premises accessible without barriers?

The premises in the "Alte Sternwarte" are only accessible to a limited extent. If you need assistance with access, please contact the indicated contact person in time, so that we can support you accordingly on the day of the event.

Is childcare available during the event?

If you need childcare during an event, please contact the Family Office of the University of Bonn.

Are external persons also allowed to participate in the event?

In order to be able to participate in the training offers of the Human Resources Development of the University of Bonn, you must have an employment contract with the University of Bonn, be an enrolled PhD student, be active in research for the University of Bonn or be an associated member of a research network.

What does certificate or certificate of attendance mean?

For all our event offerings, you will generally receive a confirmation of participation in the event and of its contents.

In addition, we are currently developing a certificate offering along the three "Career Tracks": "Research", "Research Management" and "Business & Organizations". More information will be available soon on the related page of the certificate program: Postdoc plus.
