Power Games and Micropolitical Competence in Academia
A workshop offered by the Human Resources Development
Using the organizational theory concept of micropolitics, we can systematically understand manifestations of power in organizations. Micropolitics means actively influencing what happens in organizations.
The scientific system is characterized by special institutions and hierarchical forms of organization in which controlling bodies are often lacking and competences are unclear. Whether you work at the upper, middle or lower level of your institution, sooner or later you will probably realize that professional competence and objective debate alone will not lead to the desired result.
