In this workshop you will learn how to increase the outreach of your research: from traditional print media and radio to the most common online platforms (social media, blogs, websites, video channels, etc.) as well as innovative event formats.

Learn how to reach a larger audience of experts and lay public through tailored concepts and and target group appropriate communication.

  • Get an overview of various tools and channels of science communication 
  • Take a look at possible goals and target groups that fit to you and your science communication
  • Explore within five steps how tailored concepts for your own topics can be created and how to successfully implement them
  • Discuss, based on the “Guidelines for good science PR”, which critical questions from journalists and the public you should anticipate during an interview or elsewhere

This workshop is part of the SciComm qualification offers for acquiring competences in the field of science communication. The offers follow three different competence levels: SciComm BASICS | SciComm FOCUS | SciComm ADVANCED.

No. Human Resource Development will cover all the costs incurred.

Yes. If an event is fully booked, we will put you on the waiting list. You may then move up the list if a space becomes free with enough time still to go before the event starts.

Only some of the rooms in the “Alte Sternwarte” have barrier-free access. Should you need help getting in, please get in touch with your named contact in good time so that we can give you the support you need on the day of the event.

If you need childcare during the event, please contact the Office of Family Services at the University of Bonn.

The further training offers provided by Human Resource Development at the University of Bonn are only open to people who have signed a work contract with the University, are enrolled as a doctoral student, are conducting research on behalf of the University or are an associated member of a research consortium. 

You will usually be given a certificate at all our events that confirms your attendance at the event and its content.

We also offer a certificate program along the three "Career Tracks": "Research", "Research Management" and "Business & Organizations". For more information, please see the corresponding page of the certificates. If the currently displayed training course can be credited to one of the three "tracks", this is indicated accordingly.
