Bonn International Graduate School for Biology
The Bonn International Graduate School for Biology (BIGS-BIO) is the structured PhD program of the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. It offers a research-oriented training program that covers all areas of biology and provides doctoral students with structured and targeted guidance toward their doctorates. BIGS-BIO aims at promoting the training and careers of young scientists at a high, internationally recognized level and to impart a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge.

Prior acceptance as a doctoral student in one of the research groups at the Department of Biology or the Museum Koenig is mandatory.

The BIGS Biology training programme is the perfect complement to your individual doctoral project.
You conduct your doctoral research in one of the research groups of the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Bonn or at the associated Museum Koenig as part of the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB). BIGS Biology offers you a structured training environment that supports your scientific and personal development. The programme gives you the chance to easily build a network with other doctoral students and the wider BIGS community. In addition to advanced scientific training, BIGS Biology places strong emphasis on transferable skills with a range of soft-skill courses and workshops to support your professional growth.
