In this talk, Prof. Santa Slokenberga from Uppsala University will provide an introduction to EU data protection law under the light of the EHDS (European Health Data Space). It is a brand-new legal framework, adopted with a vision to realize the data economy policy aspirations set out in the European Strategy for Data. While it remains to be seen how the EHDS will play out in practice and whether it will reach the policy ambitions that the Commission has envisaged, the implications for the right to data protection are already present. This talk scrutinizes how the right to the protection of personal data is being shaped within the European Health Data Space.
