Crafting A Life
Crafting a Life: A Participatory Art Project on the Life and Legacy of Theodor Wonja Michael
by Cheryl McIntosh and the Theodor Wonja Michael Library
Join us for a series of four participatory textile art workshops. Together, we engage with the life of Theodor Wonja Michael—a key figure in Afro-German history—through storytelling, memory, and collective making. From his childhood in the Weimar Republic and the Nazi regime to his work as a journalist and author after World War II, his life reflects resilience, resistance, and the long journey toward recognition and visibility for Black people in Germany.
