Online Vortrag: Inter-religious Dialogue in Indian art.
Lecture by Prof. Dr. Gudrun Löwner:
Today it is mostly unknown that under the reign of Akbar a interreligious dialogue in art developed, started by Akbar himself who invited representatives of all religions present in India to his court including foreign Jesuits from Goa in 1578. The tradition of borrowing and crossing over continued under his son Jahangir till M.F. Husain who as a Muslim painted endless pictures of Mother Teresa in the 20th century. This interreligious fabric is worth to remember.
