Health Insurance for Founders and Self-employed
What happens if I fall ill or need a hospital stay? What kind of treatment can I expect and what costs do I have to estimate? And who will cover which costs? Health insurance can be a challenge for startup founders or freelancers as they may not have access to traditional employer-sponsored health insurance plans (where the employer pays half the insurance contributions).
In Germany, you are required to get a healthcare plan if you are self-employed and you have to pay all health insurance contributions on your own. On the upside, freelancers have the opportunity to choose between different offers and decide whether they want to register with a public or private health insurance provider.
For this talk, we have invited an expert from German public health insurance Techniker Krankenkasse to present the offers that you can expect from a public provider.
