Deadline:
31 January 2026
Starting date:
earliest possible date
The professorship will strengthen the Cluster of Excellence PhenoRob (www.phenorob.de) with expert knowledge on pest and disease forecasting with a focus on detection as well as treatment and expected impact on pest occurrence upon changing agricultural field setups and practices.
We seek an individual who has achieved international recognition and has a strong expertise in different insect pests including forecasting models to predict the expected distribution of pests on the field to landscape scale. The research is expected to make pest forecasts and link them to the existing expertise in crop modeling and agricultural robotics in order to support the prediction of pest impacts and suggest measures to reduce negative impacts. As PhenoRob investigates the design of new cropping systems, the forecasting models to be developed should link the spread or preventions of pests with such new designs.
Demonstrated success in acquiring relevant extramural funding is required. The coordination of collaborative research projects and networks is expected for the future.
Teaching activities are expected in the existing but also new agricultural study programs of the Faculty of Agricultural, Nutritional and Engineering Sciences. Teaching activities might include insect pests and their diagnosis, agricultural entomology, and forecasting models.
The recruitment requirements are based on § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW.
