Description
This two-day workshop support students to become more fluent and confident speakers.
It focuses on strengthening their ability to formulate their message, increase their
confidence, plan and deliver successful presentations both online and face-to-face. This
practical workshop focuses on the main challenges in presenting to an international
audience and offers tips and techniques to help students speak more clearly. After
attending these workshops, participants will feel more confident presenting in academic
contexts.
Participants will learn the tools and techniques that make presenting at conferences or
giving talks more engaging, in addition to convincing the audience of the importance of
their work. Ideally, everyone should come away from the course feeling more confident
presenting in academic contexts.

- Presenting to an international audience
- Understanding the diffferences between presenting online and face-to-face
- Recognising formal and informal language
- Structuring presentation for maximum impact
- Designing tips for visuals and slides
- Engaging audience using signposting language and rhetorical devices
- Considering key aspects of non-verbal communication
- Understanding and controlling nervousness
