Academic Integration for Refugees
The Academic Integration Program for Refugees (“Förderung der Integration in das Studium”) seeks to prepare refugees to enroll in a degree program at the University of Bonn and provide them with an introduction to the academic environment of a German university.
Idea
The FdIS program largely consists of an intensive, advanced level German language course. Participants are also permitted to attend courses in selected areas of study offered by those disciplines involved in organizing the program (with the exception of medicine, dentistry or pharmacy). Participation in this program does not require confirmed eligibility to study at the university.
Participants in these courses will be permitted to sit course examinations, the results of which will be credited after formal enrolment into the relevant degree program. Participation in this program does not however, constitute a guarantee of later enrolment.
The program is free of charge for refugees.
Structure
FdIS participants will attend 24 course units per week over 14 weeks (the language course runs for 18 weeks). The course commences at the start of university semester. Applicants will take a language skills test and will be assigned to the appropriate language level according to its results. Registration for the program requires that the participants sign a declaration of commitment with the aims of ensuring regular and full participation in the program modules.
