In 2017, the University of Bonn welcomed international students for an International Summer Course for German Language and Cultural Studies for the 70th time. Some participants share their expecience and impressions:

In Bonn, I did not only learn the German language, but also got so many good memories

Trying to experience everything you want to explore. Trying to meet everyone you want to be friends. Trying to travel everywhere you want to see. For me, summer is the season for making new friends and a chance to grow up. In Bonn, I did not only learn the German language, but also got so many good memories. The most important thing for this time here is that I’ve met so many good friends from all around the world. All memories with them are valuable and I’m gonna miss everything. In the end, I want to say: Thank you, Bonn!!

We could find something that we have in common, even though we had different backgrounds

The most impressive event in this summer course was the lunch with my classmates and teachers on the last day of the class. We ate snacks, bread and vegetables that we brought along on the grass. Then we danced for our teacher in appreciation. Our classmates were from various countries such as South America, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. In spite of that, we could find a dance that was known among us all. Our teacher finally joined in the dance, and that lunch time became my best memory. We could find something that we have in common, even though we had different backgrounds. This memory is my most important treasure.

The fieldtrips to different cities and towns around Bonn were my favorites

I really enjoyed the Summer Course Program in the University of Bonn. First of all, the German language class and module contributed a lot to my German learning, and the teachers were all very nice and helpful. Besides, the fieldtrips to different cities and towns around Bonn were my favorites. During the tours, we had the opportunity not only to enjoy the natural and cultural landscape, but also to communicate with companions from different cultural background. I have learned a lot about German culture, including its history and local customs and practices. I fell in love with Bonn, a city which is not big but rich in content. I believe these abilities and knowledge will contribute to my following study about German language and culture.
