BFB annual meeting

Bonner Forum Biomedizin (BFB)

The  Bonn Biomedicine Forum (BFB) has been an important member of the Bonn Life Science community since its formation in mid-1990s to bring together scientists from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences within an interdisciplinary network. The BFB focuses on supporting early-career researchers through workshops, advise on life sciences career paths, laboratory materials sharing and networking events. The TRA Life and Health works closely together with the BFB, which recruits candidates to represent early-career researchers on the TRA steering committee.

Postdoc Network

The TRA Life and Health is working jointly with the Bonn Biomedicine Forum (BFB) to build up a postdoctoral researcher network
as a resource for providing targeted career development support to postdocs in the life sciences.

Bonn Technology Campus
Housed within the Faculty of Medicine, the Bonn Technology Campus is a set of core facilities equipped with various state-of-the-art technologies and systems at the disposal of research users. Resources and research infrastructures of other faculties are brought to the attention of the Bonn life science community and made available as well. The TRA Life and Health supports the creation of inter-faculty research infrastructures.

Valuable interaction takes place with non-university research organizations located within the region, including the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the caesar neuroethology institute and the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems. We additionally cooperate with the technology platform LIFE&BRAIN (life&brain GmbH, Bonn).

Technology Transfer

We work closely together with EnaCom, the University of Bonn’s Transfer Center, to promote the transfer of research results. Going forward, Innovation Scouts will be appointed who are tasked with identifying transfer potential within the TRAs, specifically informing scientists in regard to technology transfer and start-up-related considerations and establishing a relationship with EnaCom.
