VIP is part of the high-tech strategy of the federal government.

Its objective is to support researchers from post-secondary institutions and from public research entities in reviewing their research results early on with regard to their technical feasibility, developing new applications, as well as economic potential. VIP is intended to help bridge the gap between academic research and economic application, creating the conditions for successful further development into innovative technology-based products, processes or services.
