Network for entrepreneurs in the Bonn science region

In 1995, the Gründungs-Offensive Bonn/Rhein-Sieg was started, coordinated by the Industrie- und Handelskammer (IHK) Bonn within the Gemeinschaftsaktion Gründungs-Offensive NRW. Chambers, associations, banks, government agencies, institutions, specialized consulting entities, and municipalities joined to form a consultant network. The contacts are listed at
A current offshoot of this is the STARTERCENTER Bonn/Rhein-Sieg, in which eight public-sector partners within the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg region have convened to support and advise entrepreneurs. This is based on an initiative from the state of NRW that defines and also reviews consulting for entrepreneurs according to strict quality criteria.

An important network partner is NUK Neues Unternehmertum Rheinland e.V. NUK's services cover four areas: business plan competition, business angel fair, alumni club, and academy. Out of these, the business plan is the most important. For nine years, it has been used to support entrepreneurs to develop their business models step-by-step. After entrepreneurs have successfully launched their business, those with a plausible concept can use the business angel fair to make contact with capital sponsors for securing financing. At the same time, they can become members of the alumni club where they can continue to benefit from the network's services, which include a number of club events. Finally, the academy offers a qualified continuing education program for new entrepreneurs that affords them access to vast amounts of know-how during the initial years of their businesses.
