Careers with a Doctorate - Successful Job Applications outside Academia

A Day for International Researchers 11 October 2018 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. (incl. dinner reception)

The event organized by the Bonn Graduate Center and the International Office invites international doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at the University of Bonn to enhance their perspectives on the non-academic job market in Germany.

 

 

Program

Registration and the selection of workshops open at 1:30 p.m. (the program begins at 2:00 p.m.)

Welcome Note by Professor Dr Andreas Zimmer, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation

Introductory Keynote “Push Your Career in Germany – Secrets of a Successful Job Application”

Impulse Workshops: participants will have the opportunity to take part in three of the following workshops (A–F):

  • Writing CVs and Cover Letters
  • Application Photos as ‘Door Openers’
  • Self-presentations in Job Interviews
  • Self-marketing: Communication Policy and Price Policy
  • Making a Good Impression in Job Interviews
  • How to Present your Skills and Competencies in Social Media and be Found by Employers

There will be a coffee-break with refreshments and the opportunity for networking between workshops.

Afterwards, we would like to cordially invite you to stay for a get-together and free dinner reception.
