Doctoral Workshops with International Visiting Scholar

Participation in Doctoral Workshops

As part of the program “International Promovieren in Deutschland – for all” (IPID4all) promoted by the DAAD, the Bonn Graduate Center is supporting

 

Doctoral Workshops
with International Visiting Scholars

 

The program supports workshops and other small academic event formats in which doctoral candidates and visiting scholars experts work together on an academic topic.

Who can apply

Doctoral candidates from every subject at the University of Bonn (in teams of 2-4 persons), jointly if desired. The workshops have to take place in 2019. Please note, the funding cannot be granted if the workshop has already taken place.

 People with German citizenship are not considered international visiting scholars.

 

What does the funding include?

The following costs can be covered for supported workshops:

  • travel costs (according to DAAD lump sums) for 1-2 international visiting scholars if they are not working at the University of Bonn at the time of the workshop
  • accommodation costs for 1-2 international scholars (96 Euros per day for 5 days max)
  • refreshments and meals (maximum 30,68 Euro per Person per meal)
  • costs for design and printing of flyers or posters

In total, the requested funds should not exceed 2,000 Euros. Exceptions can be made if international visiting scholars are flown in from overseas.

 

What selection criteria are used?

  • excellency of workshop concept
  • integration of the workshop into the broader research environment at the University of Bonn
  • scholarly excellence of the applicants
  • scholarly excellence of the invited experts
  • importance of the workshop for the progress of the participants’ doctoral projects

The selection is made by an interdisciplinary selection committee.

 

How are applications submitted?

Applications must be submitted online to the Bonn Graduate Center by 31 July 2019 via the application form:

  • Concept and schedule for the workshop (up to 3 pages)
  • Budget scheme
  • Academic CVs for the doctoral candidate applicants1
  • Academic CV for the participating visiting scholar(s)1
