June 15, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. till 5:30 p.m., Online course

Course content

The goal of this training is to prepare and develop self-explanatory slides from your own research findings, e.g. for a conference, an internal meeting or your thesis defense. In the theoretical part of the training, you will learn techniques for structuring complex information logically and for designing easy-to-understand slides. In the practical part, you will then apply these techniques to your very own research findings and produce your own presentation. By the end of the training, you will get a complete draft of your own academic presentation.

Important: This training focuses on the logic of good presentations, it does not cover the use of presentation software like PowerPoint.

Workshop topics:

  • Designing optimal slides
  • Developing convincing research storylines
  • Identifying and visualizing key messages
  • Working step-by-step with your own example
  • Practice, practice, practice! (practical exercises take up more than 50% of the training)
