Thousands demonstrate in Bonn’s Hofgarten to act against climate change

Thousands gathered on the University of Bonn’s Hofgarten lawn in front of the main building to take part in the world-wide climate strike, initiated by the Fridays for Future movement. Amongst the crowd were people from all generations including babies and grannies. Numerous students and employees of the University of Bonn also took part.

The demonstrators marched through Bonn’s city center before reconvening in the Hofgarten at for a final rally. The Climate Strike is taking place in over 150 countries worldwide. It calls for actions to be taken that achieve the objectives set out by the Paris Agreement and to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. The University of Bonn welcomes the commitment of the demonstrators and advocates for sustainable actions and a science-based approach to global climate change.
