Internationalization of the Administration
The University of Bonn’s international orientation is an elementary component of its profile. But how is this orientation reflected in the day-to-day work of the university’s administration? To investigate this question and to find out how administrative staff can be better supported in their international activities, the Provost and Vice Rector for International Affairs commissioned the International Office and office for Research Management to conduct an online survey within the centralized and decentralized university administration.
The survey was conducted at the end of 2017 with the support of the Center for Evaluation and Methods. About one third of all administrative employees (600 persons) took part in the survey, giving the results a high degree of validity.
According to result, the university’s international nature is emphatically welcomed and supported by its administration. Nearly all respondents (95%) would consider further internationalization desirable. Survey results can be read in the brochure published by the University of Bonn’s Provost.
In response to the survey, university management commissioned a project group headed by the International Office to conceive and implement appropriate measures to further the internationalization of the administration.
