Offers & Networks for Researchers at Risk

Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

The Philipp Schwartz Initiative provides universities and research institutions in Germany with the means to host foreign researchers at risk for a period of 24 months on a fully funded research fellowship. Please visit the initiative's website for current calls.

German Research Foundation (DFG)

The DFG offers collaboration in DFG projects to researchers from all career areas who have escaped from their homelands to Germany. Research projects, which are already funded by the DFG, can call for additional staff and thus enable the involvement of refugee researchers. In addition, refugees can be directly funded in graduate colleges, specific research areas and other DFG-funded collaborative projects. As a prospective student, you can make a request directly to the managers of current DFG projects or graduate colleges by referring to the program. We can provide you with information about the ongoing DFG funded projects in Bonn and help you to establish contact with the project management.

Volkswagen Foundation

The Volkswagen Foundation, similarly to the DFG, offers refugee researchers who have been granted a residence permit as part of an asylum procedure involvement in existing research projects funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. The project manager must call for the applications. As an interested refugee researcher, you can make a direct request to the management of current projects funded by the Volkswagen Foundation by referring to the program. We can provide you with information about the ongoing Volkswagen Foundation funded projects in Bonn and help you to establish contact with the project management.
