Registration of Residence

Once you have moved into your new accommodation in Bonn, you are required by law to register with the municipality within two weeks if you stay for more than three months.

Simply visit the local Citizens' Service Center ("Bürgeramt"). Registration is free and you will need to take the following documents along:

  • A completed and signed registration form (can also be done during the appointment)
  • Proof of identity for all individuals being registered (ID card, passport)
  • A completed and signed note from your landlord confirming your rental status ("Wohnungsgeberbestätigung")

You will receive a proof of registration (“Meldebescheinigung”) from the municipality.

Appointment for registration of residence

In order to register your residence in Bonn, you will need an appointment at the Citizens' Service Center. Reservations can be made online or by phone. If you are unable to get an appointment for the next days or weeks, please contact our Welcome Center team. We will be glad to assist you in making an appointment.
