Conditions of participation

General information:

Generally all graduates who would like to participate in the "Graduation Walk" can register in the period between May 3, 2021 and July 15, 2021!

Registrations after deadline can no longer be considered due to organizational reasons. We ask for your understanding! The final confirmation for participation in the Graduation Walk will be made after the confirmation of the responsible examination offices at the end of July 2021. We will inform you about this at that time. Participating graduates do not have to be enrolled at the University of Bonn at the time of the event. The exact schedule for the start of your own "Walk" will be assigned after the end of the registration period via email.

If all spaces are filled, the attendance period may be extended from Saturday, August 28, 2021 to Sunday, August 29 and Friday afternoon, August 27, 2021.

Due to the current situation around the Corona pandemic, we can unfortunately only confirm at short notice whether the registered accompanying persons will actually be able to participate.

For graduates who have already completed their studies, the following applies:

All graduates who have completed their studies (Bachelor, Master, Diplom, Magister, Staatsexamen) in the academic year 2020/2021 up to and including July 15, 2021 can participate. In addition, graduates from previous years can also participate in the "Graduation Walk" if they have not yet participated in the graduation ceremony up to the current graduation year (participation in last year's "Digital Unifest" does not count here). However, the degree must not be older than 6 years (i.e. it must have been awarded after 01.01.2015).

For Bachelor's and Master's graduates, the following also applies:

Bachelor's and Master's students who can demonstrate a credit score of at least 132 LP (Bachelor's) or 60 LP (Master's) by July 15, 2021 and have already registered for the Bachelor's or Master's thesis can also participate, even if they have not yet fully completed their studies.

Furthermore, graduates can also participate in the "Graduation Walk" after both degrees, i.e. once after the Bachelor's degree and a second time after the Master's degree. In any case, registration for the "Graduation Walk" must be made by July 15, 2021!

For Diplom and Magister graduates applies:

Diplom and Magister students must have submitted and passed their Diplom or Magister thesis by July 15, 2021.

In any case, registration for the Unifest must be completed by July 15, 2021!

For graduates of the Faculty of Catholic Theology also applies:

Students of Catholic Theology with the degree objective "Magister Theologiae" or "Ecclesiastical Examination" who have a credit score of 270 LP by the registration deadline and have registered for the final thesis are eligible to participate.

For graduates of the Faculty of Protestant Theology also applies:

Enrolled students of the study programs Protestant Theology with the final degree "Magister Theologiae" or "Ecclesiastical Examination", who are admitted to the final examination in the study program, may participate, provided that they have already submitted the scientific term paper and the practical-theological elaboration in due time. Graduates of the degree program in Protestant Theology who have passed the “Ecclesiastical Examination” are eligible to participate, provided that they were enrolled in the degree program in Protestant Theology at the University of Bonn in the semester in which they passed the “Ecclesiastical Examination”. Students in the one-year Master's program Ecumenical Studies who have a credit score of at least 27 LP as of July 15, 2021 and have already registered for the Master's thesis can also participate, even if they have not yet fully completed their studies.

The following applies to graduates of the Faculty of Law:

The study of law concludes with the first (law) examination, which consists of the state compulsory subject examination (70%) and the university focus area examination (30%). In order to be eligible to participate in the "Graduation Walk", it is important that, in addition to the state examination (oral examination must be completed before the ceremony), the focus area studies (with 6 examinations and the seminar paper) have been completed in full, or that the passing of the focus area studies has been determined at least mathematically on the basis of the examinations completed to date, and that any examinations that may still be missing have also been bindingly registered before the "Graduation Walk". A mathematical pass of the focus area examination is given if an average of at least 4.0 points has already been achieved in all required partial examinations (i.e. the 6 final examinations and the seminar performance). When calculating the pass mark, the seminar paper counts four times, each final exam one time. If examination work was done abroad or at other universities, an average of 4.0 points must also have been achieved in the two best "Bonn" final examinations.

The following applies to graduates of the teacher training program:

Graduates of the teacher training program must generally fulfill the participation requirements for bachelor's or master's degree graduates listed above. When registering for the "Graduation Walk", student teachers must indicate their two subjects of study and "Lehramt" as their third subject of study. The subject chosen as first subject determines the faculty affiliation, i.e.: from which faculty you receive your certificate. Example: You are studying English and Chemistry for a teaching degree, so you could be counted to the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. However, since you feel more closely connected to the Faculty of Arts, you indicate the following when you register: first subject: English; second subject: Chemistry, third subject: teaching degree. You will receive your presentation certificate from the Faculty of Arts.
