Nicole Ernstmann is a Registered Nurse and holds a Diploma in Psychology from the University of Duesseldorf. She started her scientific career in Health Services Research at the University of Cologne. She received her Doctorate in 2007. In 2012 she completed her Habilitation in Health Services Research and Medical Sociology. After 5 years of research as Assistant Professor for Health Services Research at the University of Cologne, she accepted the position of a full Professorship at the University of Bonn in 2015. She is head of the Center for Health Communication and Health Services Research at the Department for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy. Her research focusses on patient-provider-communication in oncology, health literacy, patient enablement and patient-centred care.
