DESCRIPTION:Technological advances make it increasingly easier to predict 
 the risk of Alzheimer's dementia years before the first symptoms appear—
 currently in people with mild cognitive impairment. In the future\, it sho
 uld become possible to determine the individual risk of developing the dis
 ease for people without cognitive impairment using simple blood tests base
 d on disease-specific biomarkers. What does it mean for those affected\, t
 heir families\, and our healthcare system when it becomes increasingly pos
 sible and commonplace to know one's specific risk of developing Alzheimer'
 s dementia?\n\nAt the international final symposium of this European resea
 rch project\, researchers from various disciplines will present their find
 ings and an ethical framework for better risk assessment for Alzheimer's d
 ementia in clinical practice. Accompanied by commentary from leading exper
 ts\, we will discuss the findings together.
