 Elimination of Violence against Women\, for a critical discussion on comba
 ting gender-based violence in Northern Ghana and beyond. This event will h
 ighlight the pervasive problem of violence against women and girls\, explo
 re the socio-cultural factors that contribute to it\, and present effectiv
 e strategies for prevention and support. In Northern Ghana\, the prevalenc
 e of gender-based violence is similar to global rates\, with additional hi
 gh incidences of psychological and economic violence. Speakers from academ
 ia\, policy and practice will share their experiences to raise awareness\,
