DESCRIPTION:The research on processes of change in religious (and other cu
 ltural) phenomena has recently become crucial due to the impact of globali
 zation. The presentation will give an insight about the use of the microco
 mparative approach associated with a particular method of collecting and a
 nalyzing data that might enable a more precise and adequate description an
 d interpretation of the processes occurring within the contemporary religi
 ous phenomena in Mexican context.\n\nThe method and models are based on st
 udies of the Saint Death (Santa Muerte). The Santa Muerte devotion occupie
 s a particular place in contemporary folk religiosity due to its extraordi
 nary tendency to rapidly transform\, as well as its exponentially increasi
 ng popularity (on a global scale). The research relies partially on data g
 ethered during the author's own fieldwork conducted for many years in Mér
 ida (Mexico).
