Agile and Traditional Project Management 

A workshop offered by the Human Resources Development and Healthy Campus Bonn

The application of the project management methodology is a critical success factor for projects in university environments as well as outside.

In this training focus is on applying traditional and agile methodologies to research projects within university environments. Participants will learn how to effectively use relevant techniques, develop essential soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and leadership, and understand the differences between academic and non-academic project management contexts.

Content

  • basic understanding of the traditional project management framework as well as the agile framework SCRUM
  • main differences between agile and traditional project management and know, how to apply the frameworks to research and other projects
  • starting a project - define the scope, goals and product backlog
  • planning a project - develop a project breakdown structure and a project plan including milestones or in case of agile management, define the sprint structure and sprint backlogs
  • monitor and control project progress and manage changes
  • set up a project team and manage communication
  • analyze and manage the risks and the stakeholders
  • conduct project reviews, retrospektives or lessons learned meetings
  • dealing with difficult situations and find solutions for project issues

Yes. If an event is fully booked, we will put you on the waiting list. You may then move up the list if a space becomes free with enough time still to go before the event starts.

The further training offers provided by HR Development at the University of Bonn are only open to people who have signed a work contract with the University, the University Hospital (UKB), are enrolled as a doctoral student, are conducting research on behalf of the University or are an associated member of a research consortium. 
 

For all our event offerings, you will generally receive a confirmation of participation in the event and of its contents.
