Description
"Stories are how we remember. We tend to forget lists and bullet points," says American screenwriter Robert McKee. We forget data quickly. Stories remain in our memory. A vividly told story gains the attention and concentration of other people more easily than a logical presentation of facts.
Conveying knowledge, sharing information, motivating employees and teams, strengthening one's own positions, and convincing people are tasks that arise daily in the university work environment (and not only there) - the more agile and digital this environment is, the more urgent it becomes.
Whether it's leading a seminar, positioning scientific research, communicating in studies and examinations, or persuading argumentatively in university management: telling good stories passes on knowledge, conveys factual information vividly, points out solutions to problems, and stimulates changes in behavior. Consciously used storytelling is recommended for all communicative projects and situations in science, as a strategy and as an effective method for conferences, seminars, lectures, interviews - especially when partners from outside the field are involved.
In this workshop, all steps of this rhetorical technique are worked out, from the setting of goals to the completion of exemplary stories for everyday university life. The workshop provides participants with the tools for professional and successful storytelling in the special context of universities.
