Course Content

  • Raise self-awareness about your individual goals while presenting your poster.
  • Gain expertise in designing great poster visuals.
  • Succeed in a high-level delivery of poster presentations.
  • Getting to the point in presenting the main content of your research.
  • Gain visibility as an expert in your research.

Course Description

The first day comprises your individual goals, the key messages you want to deliver and main criteria for great poster presentations. A major part is related to poster design:

  • Layout and Visual Communication: Photos & illustrations, graphs & figures, tables
  • Structure and Relevance: Title, from introduction to conclusions, acknowledgements
  • Text: How to get your written message to the point
  • Preparation of your poster as PowerPoint or PDF

We will talk about major criteria for great poster presentations in order to win your poster award. You will pitch your presentation during the second day in a three to five minutes talk with a follow-up discussion, supplemented by a one-minute summary. You will receive high quality feedback for each of your presentations.

Further options how you can raise the quality of poster sessions outside your main presentation are also addressed, such as sharing extra materials. This way you will be fully equipped to prepare and deliver your poster presentation during offline and online conferences.

You should at least have an idea about the content of your research project, since this will be a cornerstone of your poster content.
