Often viewed as a stumbling block rather than an asset of creativity, flexibility and a rich resource, you will learn about diversity's complexities, challenges and great potential in everyday-life of academic cooperation and leadership. This workshop invites you to develop your own authentic way of diversity-conscious cooperation & leadership, and provides you with knowledge, self-awareness, practical skills and competences.

Course Content
- Our individual diversity, cultural imprints, unconscious bias and expectations towards academic cooperation and leading teams
- Anti-bias approach
- 4 dimensions of diversity, role of cultural imprints, connection between causes of conflicts (C.W. Moore) and diversity
- Diverse personalities (DISC model), personality-aware communication and motivation of team members as colleague and team-leader
- "Good diversity-conscious academic leadership”: definitions, expectations, roles, different leadership styles
- Teamwork: features, roles, stages of team-development
- Key cultural dimensions for successful diverse academic teams & leadership
- 4SI-model of diversity-conscious, non-violent communication
Course Description
In this highly interactive workshop, you will learn with and from each other in group work, plenum discussions and individual exercises. Your experiences and exemplary critical incidents will be our basis to understand, reflect upon and develop solutions and alternative ways of diversity-conscious cooperation, communication and leadership.
Preparation and technical requirements:
- No particular preparation needed except for full attendance and active participation throughout both days of the workshop.
- Use of computer/laptop (no tablets/iPads) in order to use all Zoom-options.
- Downloading of digital meeting software Zoom (can be easily deinstalled after workshop) in order to access full range of Zoom.
- Use of headset if you are in a lab or office with various people or in a noisy environment.
