Many young researchers love to work in academia: An inspiring, international and vivid surrounding. Research careers on the other hand go along with uncertainties and a high level of competition. But what about remaining in academia as non-scientific staff? The workshop aims at prospective scientific managers and addresses core questions relevant for this area.

Course Content
- Getting familiar with different fields of research management and knowing what is demanded in those fields
- Reflecting on your own profile and whether research management is a possible field for you to enter
- Becoming familiar with communication and negotiation models and enhancing personal communication style
Course Description
The first step in the workshop is to differentiate between function in research management: There is not one single job description but a wide field of different tasks demanding different (communication) skills. The second part is on communication skills needed to address target groups: scientists, administrative staff, non-scientific stakeholders and more. Research management in fact means to collaborate with colleagues from various backgrounds with various aims - and to facilitate cooperation and co-creation at those different interfaces.
