Dr. Sibylle Anderl offers insights into her day-to-day work as head of the science section at DIE ZEIT. In this role, she is responsible for both the content and organizational management of the department. Together with her team, she identifies and plans relevant topics, ensures the content's quality and stylistic clarity. As editorial lead, she focuses on the vision and shared goals, she coordinates the work and supports the team members.
Before taking on her current position, Dr. Sibylle Anderl studied physics and philosophy at TU Berlin and went on to earn a PhD in astrophysics from the University of Bonn. Alongside she gained experience as a freelance science journalist. After completing her doctorate, she conducted postdoctoral research for several years on the topic of star formation at the Institut de Planétologie et d'Astrophysique de Grenoble (IPAG). 2017, she switched completely to the field of science journalism. First as an editor and later as head of science section. In addition, she hosts the monthly program "Space Night News" on ARD-alpha, is the editor of the cultural magazine "Kursbuch", and the author of several nonfiction books.
