German Language (DaF) B1.2
A workshop offered by the Bonn Graduate Center in cooperation with the International Office .
This competence-based and action-oriented language course is aimed at graduates who want to cope with everyday life in German and, in particular, want to become competent in academic and work situations.
This course is co-financed by STIBET-funds from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Certificate
Participants who complete the entire course will receive a certificate confirming their attendance at the end of the semester.

Course Content
Participants will attain the level B1.2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) and after completing the course will be able to:
- understand the main points of clear standard statements on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, study or leisure-related topics,
- deal with situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken,
- produce connected texts on topics that are familiar or of personal and business interest,
- briefly describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, as well as opinions or plans
Course Description
Key skills
Development of social and intercultural communicative competence in the target language, strengthening of learner autonomy and media competence.
The focal points of the language course in the development of speaking, writing, listening and reading skills in the higher B1 level are, amongst others.
- writing a longer email to a public authority
- summarizing the key elements of a text – orally and written,
- holding a prepared presentation on an everyday or work/study topic,
- describing graphs, statistics or diagrams.

Requirements
Upon successful registration, your German language skills will be tested via the onSET online language placement test. The German as a Foreign Language Section will send you a TAN to conduct the placement test. Based on your score, you will assigned to the course suiting your language level.
