Publishing research articles in scientific journals is a demanding task. It is a task sometimes rewarding and sometimes frustrating. As publishing is a prerequisite for your career in academia, it is important to approach the topic strategically.

Description

This distance learning course contains six elements:

  1. A Zoom meeting on September 10, 2026, between 8:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
  2. A 1:1 coaching session via ZOOM you have with the trainer. The aim of this session is to reflect the self-learning activities and to discuss your publishing strategy. The 1:1 coaching session is held on September 10 and takes 25 minutes. The session is scheduled between 10:00 am and 6:00 p.m.
  3. A brief email you send to the trainer before the workshop. In this email, you have the opportunity to describe your two or three main challenges related to publishing research articles.
  4. A document with instructions for self-learning activities.
  5. A document including the slides shown in the meeting.
  6. A document with handouts.

You are expected to invest a total workload of 6.5 hours.

  • Using different criteria for journal selection
  • Knowing ethical guidelines related to academic publishing
  • Developing and refining publishing strategies

Creditable for the Micro Credential  'Academic Writing & Publishing'

Micro Credentials for doctoral students offer the opportunity to systematically add key future skills to your professional expertise. You can apply for a Micro Credential if you successfully complete at least four workshops from one area of expertise.
