Communication is easy? Far from it. Presenting your own research in such a way that it sparks interest even among a lay audience is a master class in itself. In this workshop you will learn how to successfully communicate with a non-scientist audience and directly put the learnings into practise by hands-on exercises.

Description
Communication is easy? Far from it. Presenting your own research in such a way that it sparks interest even among a lay audience is a master class in itself. In this workshop you will learn how to successfully communicate with a non-scientist audience and directly put the learnings into practise by hands-on exercises.
I addition to that, you will learn, how diverse the field of science communcation is, and what kind of support the University of Bonn provides to bring your findings to society.
Science communication encompasses all channels, from press releases, policy briefs, and videos to event design, podcasts, social media, as well as innovative formats such as escape rooms and interactive showcases.
Prerequisites: No prior knowledge of science communication is required for this workshop. However, if particpants would like to bring some own work for feedback, this can be included in the workshop.

- Learn strategies how to communicate research in a way that engages a lay audience
- Learn principles of good writing in science communication
- Apply principles of good writing in science communication
- Gain an overview of science communication formats
