Welcome to my homepage!

My main research interests are macroecology, biogeography, and tropical ecology. I am interested in patterns of biodiversity at various spatial scales (local to global).
Why are some places richer in species than others? What governs the distribution of diversity across the globe? These are very challenging questions, although they are on the research agenda now for at least 200 years. In my research, I am aiming at separating different ecological and historical controls of species richness. If we are to conserve a significant portion of the world's biodiversity, knowledge about geographic patterns of biodiversity and their underlying causes is urgently needed.
