Black-headed Gull (Lachmöwe) [Larus ridibundus], fall and winter visitor of Lake Laach; Canada Goose (Kanadagans) [Branta canadensis], presence of a single pair around Lake Laach (until 2009), not breeding; Common Gull (Sturmmöwe) [Larus canus], winter visitor of Lake Laach; Common Heron (Graureiher) [Ardea cinerea], visitor of Lake Laach and Maar lakes when searching for food, usually all year resident;  Coot (Blässhuhn) [Fulica atra], breeds on Lake Laach, Rodder Maar etc., all year resident;  Cormorant (Kormoran) [Phalacrocorax carbo], summer and winter visitor of Lake Laach and Rodder Maar; Egyptian Goose (Nilgans) [Alopochen aegyptiacus], since 2007 presence of a single pair on and besides Lake Laach, probably breeding in a swamp region [Thürer Wiesen] near Lake Laach; Great Crested Grebe (Haubentaucher) [Podiceps cristatus], breeds on Lake Laach, Rodder Maar etc., all year resident on Lake Laach, leaves Maar lakes during severe winter periods; Herring Gull (Silbermöwe) [Larus argentatus], winter visits around Lake Laach of L. argentatus-like gulls; note that a definite species identification is not easy, because of great morphological similarities with the two other L. argentatus-like gulls (L. fuscus [Lesser Black-backed Gull] and L. c. michahellis [Yellow-legged Gull]);  Little Grebe (Zwergtaucher) [Tachybaptus ruficollis], usually all year resident of Lake Laach, Rodder Maar etc.; Mallard (Stockente) [Anas platyrhynchos], usually all year resident; Moorhen (Teichhuhn) [Gallinula chloropus], all year resident; Pochard (Tafelente) [Aythya ferina], winter visitor of Lake Laach and Rodder Maar; Red-crested Pochard (Kolbenente) [Netta rufina], presence of a single female around Lake Laach and of a single male on Mosel river near Cochem; Reed Warbler (Teichrohrsänger) [Acrocephalus scirpaceus], summer visitor (from May to August); Shoveler (Löffelente) [Anas clypeata], rare winter visitor of Lake Laach; Tufted Duck (Reiherente) [Aythya fuligula], winter visitor of Lake Laach and Maar lakes, probably also breeding around Lake Laach and Rodder Maar; White Wagtail  (Bachstelze) [Motacilla alba], breeds (not necessarily near water) in open country, nest in recesses or holes of buildings etc., summer visitor (from March to October); Wigeon (Pfeifente) [Anas penelope], visitor of Rodder Maar during fall migration;  a.o.
